Gene Sequencing

Gene Sequencing

Gene sequencing is becoming an interesting fixture in cloning as well as in DNA chain replication.  This practice is also being used to amplify DNA structure, as done with Polymerase chain reaction which in turn makes the DNA structure potentially better.  Sub cloning also has much to do with this technique, polymerase chain reactions are used to make cloned cells stronger and all these processes go hand in hand together.  DNA sequencing itself starts off by determining the sequence of AGCT the different and important components of a DNA strand.  Micro array processing can help to show the detail of the DNA structure to scientists.  This process makes it easier to understand the gene sequencing process as well as to get a closer look at molecular structure.

This type of sequencing can be used to analyze human, animal, or plant DNA.  It can tap into mitochondria as well as chloroplasts and allow scientists to optimize a strand of DNA for processes such as cloning or for medicine, and even the further overall study of genomics, the study of animal and human genomes.  Places in the United States such as San Diego have built large research facilities that are furthering this practice of research microbiology.  TAQ polymerase is even being studied, a type of polymerase that relies off thermal bacteria.  TAQ polymerases are used in PCR chain reactions.

Gene sequencing also has much to do with ancestor cells.  In sub cloning cells are taken, cloned, and purified and heightened from their ancestor’s cells creating a better and more pure cell.  Tissue samples are generally needed for many of these processes, and much of this research goes to solving medical mysteries like cancer, AIDs, or other diseases.  Studies have even determined that humans may be able to clone after some the long time development of this research and one controversial idea is genetic engineering or the building of a perfect child.  Scientists may one day be able to bring alive the dreams and nightmares of Gattica, a movie that dealt with genetic engineering and the moral issues surrounding this controversial subject.

DNA Barcoding in Plants & Its Potential Applications

By William Sutherland
Today, barcodes play a critical role in society since scanners are relatively inexpensive, extremely accurate and highly efficient. Natural barcodes (a short strand of DNA) also exist and are well established in the animal kingdom. However until the recent discovery that matK and rbcL genes could serve as barcode genes, this was not the case with plants. With regard to plants, when barcoding becomes routine in an estimated 5-15 years, the field of botanical phylogenetics and research will benefit greatly, endangered species will be able to be easily tracked and better protected, and people will have greater assurance pertaining to the food, drinks, and/or medicine they consume.

DNA Analysis

By Kristy Annely
The DNA of a person is responsible for providing information regarding who and what the person is since it contains the design of the genetically passed traits taken from both parents. A lot of information may be attained when one carefully studies the DNA and relates it to possible other discoveries about the person, such as parentage, disease predisposition, etc. DNA is responsible for the person's hair color, eye color, build, susceptibility to certain disorders, and a lot more. Careful analysis must be done in order to use the DNA as a means to study and evaluate a person with regard to inherent traits passed on by his/her parents.

How to Stay Young, 2010 Style

By Thomas Leonard
How to stay young is a challenge that we would all like to have more control over because as we get older that challenge can get more difficult. How young will you look and feel like when you are 70 years of age? Are we likely to have some of the diseases that people tend to get as they grow older like Alzheimer's, dimensia, arthritis?
